AT LEAST 100 people have been injured in a major pile-up on a Canadian highway amid a heavy snow storm, according news reports.
The chain-reaction of accidents occurred in Alberta province, in the Canadian West. It was not clear how many vehicles were involved.
early reports said at least 300 people were injured. This figure had since been revsied down to about 100.
The injured were transported to hospital, in some cases with the help of buses that were already on the road.
Derek Fildebrandt, who was travelling on a Red Arrow passenger bus at the time, estimated at least 200 vehicles were involved and said he saw one man with what appeared to be broken legs.

Fildebrandt, who Tweeted several pictures of the crash, said he saw vehicles go off the road.
“Cars flying off into the ditches beside us, smashing into each other on the road and in the ditches," he said.
"Very little room to manoeuvre."
