IN a first for football, star players from Sydney's four codes have come together to throw their support behind Guide Dogs NSW.

Putting aside their friendly rivalries were Wests Tigers' Lote Tuqiri, Sydney FC's Pascal Bosschaart, the Waratahs' Benn Robinson and the Swans' Ted Richards. The four teams, which all share tenancy at the SCG and Allianz Stadium, will dedicate a home game to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT to raise awareness of the services provided to people with vision impairment.

Before each home game two vision impaired people - one using a cane, the other with a guide dog - will lead the team on to the field.

It is the brainchild of sports commentator Andrew Voss whose mother and aunt have suffered vision loss after being diagnosed with glaucoma.

The series kicks off on Friday 19 April when the Waratahs play the Chiefs, followed by Friday 10 May when the Tigers play the Sharks.
