WITNESSES to a fatal motorcycle crash have told police the 48-year-old rider was overtaking other motorcycles when he left the road and crashed.
Paramedics were called to the Old Pacific Highway at Cowan, near the popular Pie In The Sky cafe, shortly before 9am yesterday.
It is understood bystanders, including a doctor, performed CPR on the rider, from the northern beaches, before paramedics arrived but he died at the scene.
A police spokesman said there was "some indication that speed may have been a factor" given witnesses told officers he was seen overtaking other riders at the time.
It followed an earlier fatality at nearby Mangrove Mountain about 10pm on Saturday in which a passing motorist found a man trapped in a car on Wisemans Ferry Rd after it crashed into a pylon supporting the Peats Ridge Rd overpass.
Paramedics were called but the 37-year-old, who was believed to be a foreign national, died at the scene.
