Man jailed for blinding widow's dog

A MAN who blinded a loyal dog as it tried to protect its 86-year-old owner?s home has been jailed for 22 months.

David Senior, 21, from Dudley, West Midlands, England, pleaded guilty to burgling the widow's home in Stoke Prior while she was out at church.

He kicked eight-year-old Kiri, a border collie, permanently damaging her right eye, Softpedia reported.

He has now been sentenced to 16 months for the burglary and a further six months for drugs charges.

Kiri's owner, who does not want to be named, said: "I am gutted by what has happened. Kiri appears to be fearful and is following me everywhere about the house as if she needs constant reassurance.

"She is my daily companion. I just can't believe that anyone could be so heartless and cruel to an animal."
