WHEN Asad Altamimi parked his car in the driveway of his home on Thursday night, he had no idea it could save his family's life.
But in the early hours of yesterday, a Honda Civic - which lost control in the rain - ploughed through two fences and smashed into Mr Altamimi's car at Auburn.
Were it not for the parked car, the Honda could have continued on its path into the house, where Mr Altamimi's wife and two children, aged 6 and 3, were sleeping.
"My bedroom is right there and the children's bedroom is the next one," he said, pointing to their rooms just metres from where the crashed car sat.
"I heard an accident and it was far away, but it was not stopping, (it was) getting louder, and the last noise was too big. That's when I came outside and I saw the car and the driver was still in it.
"It's damaged my car, the house, everything."
Police arrested the driver.
