BOTTLES of a toxic chemical were thrown from a building onto a city street overnight harming a man walking by.
Just before 2am bottles containing chlorine landed on the road and footpath spraying their contents across the street.
A man in his 20s who was nearby became ill after ingesting the fumes and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Firefighters were on hand to spray down the street to dilute the chlorine with its smell permeating strongly throughout the area.
Police took away evidence bags believed to contain the bottles of the corrosive chemical tossed from above.
It is unclear which building they came from, with investigations by police continuing.
