THE search has resumed for NSW man Martin Tann, whose clothes and belongings were found abandoned on a Perth beach.
Water Police, local police, SES volunteers and Surf Lifesaving staff all resumed a third day of searching at 7am WST on Thursday.
Mr Tann's backpack was found on a limestone wall near the beach by a passer-by on Tuesday, and his belongings were then spotted on the beach.
After his family was contacted, police were alerted around 8.30pm WST on Tuesday.
Mr Tann's parents are believed to have flown to WA as the search continues.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man has been arrested after a laser was pointed at a police helicopter involved in the search for Mr Tann.
Police will allege at 6.30pm WST on Wednesday, the police helicopter was flying at around 1500 feet, when a bright green laser was shone directly into the cabin.
"The laser light caused immediate distress to the pilot and he was required to take evasive action by manoeuvring the helicopter into a position to reduce direct eye contact," a police spokeswoman said.
By using Infrared technology, the alleged offender was found in the driveway of a nearby home.
He will be summonsed for the offence of causing fear with an object or substance to people in a conveyance.
